Paddle Blade Materials
If you are a recreational paddler or competitive paddler, it's good to note that you have choices for paddles.
Because you raise the blade higher than the shaft, the weight of your paddle makes a difference. A lightweight paddle will reduce fatigue. Different blade materials also differ in how well they transfer energy to your stroke.
These are lower cost and often selected by recreational paddlers. Plastic blades will crack in the sun if left out over long periods of time. Plastic is flexible which means that it many hinder the efficiency of your stroke.
Medium cost, you get both performance and durability. Fiberglass is lighter than plastic, but it may chip. They are stiff and therefore more efficient in the water than plastic.
This is the best blade possible because it is ultralight and rigid so you get outstanding energy transfer with every stroke.
